The Movies

So, I have this wonderful coffeehouse that actually cares to introduce it's clientel to an alternative mode of thought... Tonight, at 7pm, patrons were shown the controversial movie "Out Foxed"... I was very happy to be a part of this. In the midwest, at least here, there are slim to no opportunities to share alternative, liberal ideologies... I love my coffeeshop and my friend Heidi for sharing...

Interesting documentary, Outfoxed. What I'd like to know is, how much of an impact is it really having on the network? I mean, there was really nothing new in there that I didn't already know. Is the film really more for people who haven't watched Fox Spews Channel?

I think it helped the people here in Indiana understand what fox really does. The conservative streak here is more than an ideology, it is a cultural norm... our democrat running for congress is anti-gay, pro-life and pro-gun... So, it opened the eyes of viewing hoosiers, and started people talking. If we can keep these people talking here in the melting pot of the nation, then maybe something will change eventually.

A Democrat who is anti-gay, pro-life AND pro-gun? Are you sure he's really a Democrat? Use the write-in candidate and make sure he's a Green.

I was actually working for his campaign...

But, yeah, he is all those things. His opposition is a god loving fundamentalist, and he has been in office for 3 terms... people love him here. So, my guy is the only candidate that might get that seat back to the dem camp. If that happens, then the office will start to get more liberal. Until then, Jon Jennings is the best the dems can offer to counteract John Hostettler. Our libertarian candidate is running to spoil the republican vote, not to win, just to spoil. It is a bigger deal for us to unseat John Hostettler I guess.

          Check it out: www.jenningsforcongress.com/
          www.house.gov/hostettler/...hats-new.htm

Hostettler's first TV add went like this - John Hostettler is god's personal friend... He is running to protect Hoosier values (although he will never tell you what that means) and he loves god. God is great, and Hostettler is running to make sure you know it.

It was insane!!!! God this, god that... I mean really!!!

If a candidate has to constantly invoke God in his campaign, it usually means the candidate hasn't got a prayer of winning.

Unfortunately, here in the bible belt, invoking god in a campaign is almost required. Hostettler has won over and over, and he has always run on a heavy dose of political god.

This is one reason, among others, that I am leaving Indiana and moving back to California in a week... the political spectrum is so heavily weighted on the right that I am tipping right off of it.
